Champagne Sadi Malot is grower-producer (RM - Recolant Manipulant) based in the premier cru village of Villers-Marmery in the north-east of the Montagne de Reims region, just below the famous grand cru villages of Verzy and Verzenay. The area is famous for Pinot Noir but Villers-Marmery is an island of Chardonnay, the result of an unusual vein of limestone bedrock that would be more at home in the Cote des Blancs. The family estate extends over approx 10 hectares of vines - 8ha of Chardonnay in Villers-Marmery, and 2ha of Pinot Noir in Verzy. In 2004 they instituted radical change in their viticulture, reducing mechanical vineyard impact, cultivating undervine and adopting organic and sustainable methods. In 2017 the Pinot Noir vineyards began the process of organic certification, followed by the Villers-Marmery sites in 2018. From 2022 all their vineyards were being managed organically. They are awaiting certification for both organics and biodynamics, which they hope will come in 2024
